NOTES
Additional Information:A double store, constructed of brick and repeating the cornice and hood moldings prevalent in the area of Oregon St. Building was originally shared by a funeral parlor and scale shop. In 1939, Teela-Zenter moved into the north side of the building and the middle was expanded into the scale shop area. Teela-Zentner was founded in 1912 by Richard Zentner as Teela Sheet Metal Works. In 1919 Warren Zentner joined the firm. Saloonkeeper Carl Lehmann constructed this building in 1891, which also featured an upstairs hall utilized for dances and club events. Lehmann transferred his license to Paul Jewely in 1896. Earnest Lang operated a saloon at this location in 1903 and by 1912 the American Sanitary Laundry and the Zouave Hall occupied the building. Adolph Schneider’s roofing company utilized the building in the 1920s and 1930s, yielding to I.R. Hanson’s heating company by 1940. 2016- "Located at the southeast corner of Oregon and W. 6111 streets, this two-story, brick commercial vernacular retail building is topped with a corbel table parapet. Its two modernized storefronts feature a trio of brick piers adorned with corbeled brick. A row of soldier brick between the two levels and a datestone inscribed with "C. LEHMANN, 1891" also decorate the main (west) facade. Remaining fenestration generally consists of replacement one-over-one, double-hung sash located in segmentally arched openings highlighted with raised brick hoods. -"Jackson/Oregon St Bridge Replacement," WisDOT #4994-07-00, Prepared by Heritage Research, Ltd (Vogel, Faltinson).
