Additional Information: | This Italianate house retains elongated windows, brackets along eaves and an oculus closed in the main pediment, however, the building has been resided in composition shingles and the porch has been enclosed. W.H. Doe was a local businessman with lumber interests. He arrived in Oshkosh in 1854 and left for Colorado in 1865. On his return to Oshkosh as a wealthy silver miner, he invested in lumber interests. He served in the state legislature in the 1870's, but returned to Colorado in 1878. In the 1880's the house was owned by H.W. McKoy, a business associate of Philetus Sawyer. Georgian Revival garage (separate record, AHI 70523). The interior has been partly remodeled as a doctor's office. |
