Additional Information: | BRACKETED CORNICE W/CENTRAL GABLE. This two-story, Italianate-style commercial building, historically known as the R.J. Washburne Block, was constructed c.1884. It is of brick masonry construction with a rectangular plan on a stone foundation. The roof is flat and ornamented on the front (southeast) facade with an irregularly shaped parapet featuring elaborate ornamentation and a simple stepped parapet on the side (northeast) elevation. The first-story storefront windows are covered by a modern fabric awning. The second-story features six replacement, one-over-one, double-hung sash windows with similar awnings and stone lintels and sills. The facade is ornamented with a heavily decorative cornice and arched sign reading, “R.J. Washburne 1884.” The side (northeast) elevation is devoid of fenestration. |
