Additional Information: | 1993: this large, two-story, hip-roofed, concrete block and frame, building has rusticated concrete block walls on the lower story and clapboard walls on the second story. The original stone and frame building was constructed in 1904 an the Union Star cheese factory. This building has been incorporated in the construction of the existing structure which was enlarged after 1911 when the factory was purchased by the Metzigs who still produce cheese. The building features Craftsman details including exposed rafters, 3/1 double hung sash windows, and hip-roofed dormers. A two-story, rusticated concrete block, four-car garage with concrete block addition is located immediately west of the cheese factory. |
