Additional Information: | Brodhead's first church is a frame structure featuring pilasters at its corners, lancet windows, and a large square cupola which at one time was capped by a spire. Lincoln Fisher, the architect of this church, was the son of l.S. Fisher, Brodhead's First shoemaker. The church of the Methodist Episcopal congregation was the first to be erected in Brodhead and this received the bell promised by Edward Brodhead, the railroad official for whom Brodhead is named. In the early 1970s the building was sold and became the Church of the Nazarene. The bell remains with the Methodist congregation, however, at their new church on Center Avenue. |
