Additional Information: | This 2-story Queen Anne grocery building was constructed in 1893. It is irregular in plan with a stone foundation, brick walls and a flat roof. The front elevation faces southwest and is angled to fit the adjacent intersection. The front door is accessed via a recently constructed concrete stoop with metal railings and is sheltered by a canvas awning. Above the glass entry door is a bay window at the second story. Above this is a date stone; a cornice of corbelled dentils runs the perimeter of the roof. Between the first and second stories is a corbelled dentil belt course. The northwest and northeast elevations of the building have been obscured by the recent addition of an adjoining apartment building. The interior of the building appears to retain no original wall, ceiling, or flooring materials and contains modern grocery store installations and furninshings throughout. MAP CODE IS 0709-133-2204-9. Resurveyed 2012; changes include replacement windows and doors at the first story and a new, larger canvas awning. |
