ARCHITECTURAL STATEMENT: THIS DESIGN BY WILLIAM WATERS REFLECTS THE INFLUENCE OF THE COLONIAL REVIVAL STYLE. THE FRAME BUILDING IS TWO STORIES WITH A FULL ATTIC ILLUMINATED BY DORMERS. THE DORMERS FEATURE A ROUNDED WINDOW FRAMED BY SHORT PILASTERS THAT VISUALLY, SUPPORT A TRIANGULAR PEDIMENT. A FRONT PORCH COMBINES CUT STONE PIERS WITH GROUPS OF COLUMNS. INTERIORS OF THE WALL HOUSE WERE ORIGINALLY DECORATED BY GUSTAV BEHNCKE. (E) HISTORICAL STATEMENT: TOM R. WALL WAS THE SON OF THE LUMBERMAN TOM WALL. HE BECAME THE SECRETARY TREASURER OF WALL-SPALDING LUMBER CO. BY 1905 HE WAS ALSO THE VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE WINNECONNE LUMBER CO. AND VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE COMMERCIAL NATIONAL BANK. (B) |
