Additional Information: | 2004- House sits on a 1-acre-plus parcel and features a large lawn that sweeps down to the Fever River. Lawn is punctuated with many large trees. A driveway on the southwest side of the house provides access to the parking area between the house and a non-contributing shed behind it. Another non-contributing shed sits to the north of the house. The house has a fairly narrow setback from County Hwy H, more typical of a village home than a rural farmhouse. There is a concrete "pad" under the northeast and southeast elevations. The house itself is a 2-story Greek Revival influenced building constructed of rusticated coursed limestone. The gable roof features returned eaves on both side walls. The main facade features symmetrical fenestration decorated with flat stone lintels and stone sills. All windows except one are multi-light sashes of the same size. On the first level, one window is smaller and may have formerly been an entrance. The offset main entrance is a single door decorated with a flat lintel. Two sashes punctuate the northeast wall, and one sash is extant on the southwest wall. Running across this elevation is a glass-enclosed ell with a shed roof. A sash punctuates the second level of the rear elevation and a shed-roofed ell projects from most of the first level of this wall. the ell extends on the northeast side to form an overhang for a rear entrance. |
