Additional Information: | 2004- 1-story, rectangular plan, regularly coursed limestone construction. Low-pitched roof with returned eaves, covered with wood shingles. Brick chimney projecting from each end wall. Long narrow stones set as corner quoins. No openings in the end walls. Side wall facing the highway has two symmetrical openings with flat stone lintels and stone sills, and are currently covered by plywood. The wall facing away from the highway was designed as the main elevation. It is covered by a frame shed-roofed addition with an entrance in its northeast end. According to current owner, the John Anthony house was built as a miner's cottage. It is typical of small limestone buildings known as miner's cottages in southwestern Wisconsin. |
