Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. This Queen Anne building exploits its corner location. Entrance is under the corner turret, oriel windows on the east and north balance the turret and intensify the sculptural quality. Stone string courses emphasize the horizontal, while grouped bartizan elements repeat the verticality of turret and oriels. This is significant as an example of the Queen Anne, carefully modeled and detailed. "The building housed a variety of stores over the years: hardware, meat market, and confectionary, among others. This building features a turreted, canted corner entrance, substantial decorative brickwork, limestone courses, pressed egg and dart decorative metalwork, second store bays, and a gabled facade."
