Additional Information: | 2016- "St. Cloud Catholic Church is a two-and-one-half-story Neogothic Revival church constructed in 1905. The cream brick building has a front gabled roof and concrete block foundation. A stone belt course delineates the foundation from the first story. A bell tower and steeple rise from the front of the symmetrical east façade. The main entrance is composed of a pair of glass doors with a round arch transom set in a round arch opening under a front gabled bay. It is accessed via a run of concrete steps. Above the entry, the bell tower contains three round arches which originally contained stained glass windows. These openings have been enclosed with cream brick. Three more louvered round arch openings and a clock are contained under a single arch near the top of the tower, on all four elevations. A conical steeple with four small pinnacles and a cross are present at the top of the tower. Two pairs of round arch windows flank the entry on the first story. Each pair features a continuous stone sill and stained glass windows. Two more round arch windows flank the entry on the second story. Each window opening contains a pair of stained glass round arch windows and a quatrefoil with stone tracery. The parapet at the gable end is decorated with brick corbelling and a stone cap. The side (north and south) elevations each feature six two-story round arch windows, proceeding at a regular cadence along both elevations. They are separated by brick and stone buttresses. The five-sided apse is located on the west elevation." -"CTH G/Main St, Palm Tree Rd-Cedarview Dr," WisDOT #4854-03-00, Prepared by Rachel Greene (CCRG). (2015). |
