Additional Information: | 1986--One of Menasha's most active industrialists and civic leaders, Samuel H. Clinedinst was President and General Manager of Menasha Printing Company and Vice President and Treasurer of Menasha Carton Company. His civic activities include serving on the County for Defense during the first world war. His house on Naymut Street was constructed in 1913. The Samuel H. Clinedinst House is historically significant for its association with one of Menasha's msot active industrialists and civic leaders. The Samuel H. Clinedinst House is located on Doty Island in one of Menasha's most prominent neighborhoods. Situated on the west side of Naymut Street, the Coinedinst House is a rectangular two-and-one-half-story Craftsman Arts and Crafts residence featuring four large dormers and a veranda. The foundations are random stone, the siding is stuccoed, and the hipped roof material is asphalt. The windows are double-hung with diamond panes in the upper sash. A contributing member of the Naymut Street Historic District, the Samuel H. Clinedinst House is an outstanding example of the Craftsman Arts & Crafts style of architecture. 2009--The boundary as delineated for the proposed Naymut Street Historic District in 1984 has been decreased in size for 2009; however, the Clinedinst house still remains within the proposed district. The only apparent exterior change to the home is the new porch railing. Windows may be new, but they are consistent with what was previously there. |
