NOTES
Additional Information:THIS TWO-STORY, SIDE GABLED MINING STRUCTURE WAS BUILT IN THE C. 1840S. (SEE BIB. REF. H). IT FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A STONE FOUNDATION, AN UNSPECIFED STONE EXTERIOR, A STONE TRIM AND AN ASPHALT SHINGLED GABLE ROOF. ON THE ROOF TOP TWO BRICK CHIMNEYS APPEAR, EACH ONE NEAR AN OPEN GABLE END. THE ONCE VISIBLE SIX-OVER-SIX WINDOWS, ADORNED BY STONE LINTELS AND SILLS, ARE NOW CONCEALED BY WOOD SHUTTERS. REGULARLY SPACED STONE QUOINS DISTINGUISH THE BUILDING'S CORNERS. THE STRUCTURE IS IN GOOD CONDITION.

THIS BUILDING WAS KNOWN HISTORICALLY AS THE MERRY CHRISTMAS MINE COMPANY BUILDING AND AS THE "CORNISH COUNTING HOUSE." (SEE BIB. REF. H). IT MAY ALSO HAVE BEEN KNOWN AS THE NEW JERSEY ZINC COMPANY OFFICE, WHICH WAS AFFILIATED WITH A ZINC MINE ON MINERAL POINT HILL.

THE STRUCTURE WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE MINING INDUSTRY AND FUNCTIONED AS A MINE BUILDING FROM THE C. 1840S TO 1900. (SEE BIB. REF. A, H). CURRENTLY, THE BUILDING REMAINS VACANT.
