NOTES
Additional Information:FCS 6/19 - James River Paper Co., Washington St. - this flat-roofed International Modern papermill building has an extended ell plan, a foundation containing turbine and discharge chambers, a basement spanning part of a power channel, and a single, tall main story. The continuous window bands in each waterside wall have been reduced by brick infill or covered with metal panels. Vertically arrayed pairs of square windows are inset in the brick infill of the thirteen bays of the long, channelside wall of the main story. The basement window bands are filled by corrugated metal panels with small, widely spaced inset windows and protruding vents. The main story windows of the shallow, downstream leg of the ell are entirely covered by corrugated metal. In contrast to the flush surfaces of the original constructiom and infill, a quadpartite, corbelled cornice finishes the wall. An enclosed. metal-clad, main-story passage that bridges the power channel conjoins this structure to the complex containing 6/24-25 and 6/27.

2009--Since last surveyed in 1984, there have been no apparent exterior changes.
