| Additional Information: | ORIEL OVER RIGHT-HAND STOREFRONT. DENTILS IN CORNICE. RIGHT-HAND STOREFRONT HOUSED A BARBERSHOP IN 1977. A LARGE NEW ADDITION HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE REAR OF THE BUILDING SINCE THEN. 2008- "This two-story-tall, trapezoidal plan Queen Anne Style commercial building has an asymmetrically designed main facade that faces south onto W. Main St. and this fac;ade is faced in cream brick. This facade is divided vertically into two equal width sections by a two-story-tall pilaster strip. The first story of the right-hand section features a now altered display window and an adjacent entrance door while the second story above consists of a large polygonal oriel bay window. The first story of the left-hand section consists of two flat-arched windows and an adjacent entrance door opening, and there is a triple window group located in the second story above. Both sections are then crowned by the building's original, still intact corbelled brick cornice and a continuation of this cornice also crowns the east-facing cream brick-clad side elevation of the building as well. Both of these elevations are still largely intact today and are in good condition, but a large, highly visible two-story veranda has been built across the angled north-east-facing side elevation of this building recently." -"Waunakee 7.5 Quad", WisDOT#5290-01-02, Prepared by Timothy F. Heggland, (2008). |
