Additional Information: | SEGMENTAL ARCHED WINDOWS, 2-TONE BRICKWORK IN STRINGCOURSE ON MAIN FACADE. FIRST STORY STOREFRONT ON THE MAIN FACADE HAS NOW (2008) BEEN COMPLETELY ALTERED AND ALL SECOND STORY WINDOWS ARE MODERN AND ARE SMALLER THAN THE ORIGINALS. 2008- "This previously surveyed, two-story-tall, rectilinear plan Commercial Vernacular form building has a symmetrical main facade faces north onto W. Main St. Originally, the first story of this fagade contained a single large storefront that was composed of a deeply inset centered entrance door that was flanked on both sides by small display windows, and this entrance was flanked in its turn by two larger display windows. Now, however, all of these elements have been replaced with modern elements altered and a small pent roof has been constructed across the original lintel that spanned the storefront. The walls of this building are clad in tan brick, but the original cornice that once crowned the main facade has now been replaced with a modern one. In addition, all of the second story's original segmental-arched window openings have now been filled with smaller modern windows." -"Waunakee 7.5 Quad", WisDOT#5290-01-02, Prepared by Timothy F. Heggland, (2008). |
