Additional Information: | THIS ONE-STORY COMMERCIAL GARAGE, DESIGNED IN THE TWENTIETH CENTURY COMMERCIAL STYLE, WAS BUILT IN 1909. (SEE BIB. REF. A, G, H). IT FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A BRICK EXTERIOR AND A FLAT ROOF. ACCORDING TO THE INVENTORY CARD WHICH DESCRIBES THIS PROPERTY, THE SIDE WALLS ARE COMPOSED OF CONCRETE BLOCK AND THE ROOF IS COVERED WITH TAR. A VERY LARGE PORTION OF THE HIGH STREET FACADE IS MADE UP OF A PARAPET. SEGMENTALLY ARCHED DOORWAYS, ONE OF WHICH IS NEARLY SEALED OFF, ARE ACCENTED WITH BRICK LINTELS. THE STRUCTURE IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THIS BUILDING FUNCTIONED AS A GARAGE FROM 1909 TO 1929. (SEE BIB. REF. G, F). (THE HEIRS OF GEORGE MASTER WERE THE OWNERS OF THE PROPERTY IN 1910). SINCE 1992, IT HAS BEEN USED AS A RETAIL BUILDING BY NAPA AUTO PARTS. (SEE BIB. REF. F). THE BUILDING WAS LOCALLY DESIGNATED, BECOMING PART OF THE MINERAL POINT LANDMARK DISTRICT IN 1972. 2012- "Constructed by George Masten in 1909 on part of the large lot that had previously been used by Sydney Shepard's marble works. The Masonic Temple was built on the corner of this lot ten years earlier.
