NOTES
Additional Information:THIS TWO-STORY ITALIANATE STYLED RETAIL BUILDING WAS CONSTRUCTED BETWEEN 1844 AND 1845. (SEE BIB. REF. A). IT FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A STONE FOUNDATION, A BRICK EXTERIOR, A STONE AND METAL TRIM AND A METAL COVERED GABLE ROOF. LARGE STONE LINTELS DISTINGUISH THE SECOND STORY WINDOWS. THE PRESENT DAY PROJECTING CORNICE REPLACED THE MORE ELABORATE, ORIGINAL CORNICE, WHICH HAD BEEN TOPPED BY A TRIANGULAR SHAPED PEDIMENT. THE BUILDING WAS ALSO EXTENDED BY ONE BAY AT THE EAST TO ACCOMODATE A STAIRWAY TO THE UPPER FLOOR IN 1914. (SEE BIB. REF. D). OTHER ADDITIONS WERE BUILT AT THE REAR OF THE BUILDING IN 1897 AND 1955. (SEE BIB. REF. E). A RECONSTRUCTION ABOVE THE DOORWAY WAS ALSO INDICATED TO HAVE OCCURRED, AT AN UNSPECIFED DATE, ACCORDING TO THE INVENTORY CARD WHICH DESCRIBES THIS PROPERTY. THIS STRUCTURE IS IN GOOD CONDITION.

2012- "Built by Theodore Rodolf who came from Switzerland to the Lead Region in 1832. Rodolf originally settled in the Wiota area with his mother, brothers, and sisters. After a time in New Orleans, he came to Mineral Point and established his mercantile business. The building's facade has been severely altered from its original design.

This building has only had three occupants since 1842, all of them pharmacies: Rodolf's Drug Store, Vivian's Pharmacy, and Ivey's Pharmacy."
-from "A Field Guide to Mineral Point" by Nancy Pfotenhauer of the Mineral Point Historical Society, 1st Edition, 2012, Little Creek Press.

THE HISTORIC NAMES OF THIS BUILDING INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: THEODORE RODOLF DRY GOODS STORE (SEE BIB. REF. A); THEODORE RODOLF DRUG STORE (SEE BIB. REF. B), DR. JOHN VIVIAN'S DRUG STORE (SEE BIB. REF. C), AND THE CHARLES IVEY DRUG STORE (SEE BIB. REF. F). THE DRY GOODS STORE WAS IN BUSINESS FROM 1844 TO 1845 (SEE BIB. REF. A), AND THE DRUG STORE WAS IN BUSINESS FROM 1884 TO 1929 (SEE BIB. REF. A, F).

THE BUILDING WAS DESIGNATED LOCALLY, BECOMING PART OF THE MINERAL POINT LANDMARK DISTRICT IN 1972.
