NOTES
Additional Information:St. John's Evangelical Church was built in 1923 by the congregation. It is a simplified version of the English Gothic Revival style consisting of a two story gable roofed auditorium and main hall section and a square entrance tower with battlements on the northeast corner of the building. The main facade frames a large, stain-glass window. A more recent educational wing is on the west-side of the building. St. John's Evangelical Church was formed in 1890, organized by a number of ministers. One of these was the Rev. John Heinrichs who was also one of the founders if the German weekly newspaper "Die Wahrheit" in Manitowoc. The original church was built on Marshall Street between 14th and 15th Streets and moved to this site in 1901. It was replaced with the present structure in 1923. 1.
