Additional Information: | This small two story brick home is th oldest structure in the South Seventh Strete District dating from c.1894. It features a plain brick facade broken by a band of three windows on the second floor facade and two on the first floor. The front door takes the place of third first floor window. Windows and door are called out by brick rounded surrounds. The windows on the second floor appear to be replacements although those on the first floor cold be original 6/6 behind the storm windows. The door appears to be original or a very early replacement. Corbelled banding decorates the cornice line. In addition to being the oldest house in the District, it is unique in its design characteristics and therefore is a sole example within the District of this style of construction. The symmetry reminiscent of the Greek Revival is found in the massing, form and placement of openings on the facade. Only the brick surrounds are unusual, generalloy adhering to the late Italianate style. |
