THIS ONE STORY AUTOMOBILE SHOWROOM WAS BUILT IN 1947 IN THE ART MODERNE STYLE. (SEE BIB. REF. A). RECTANGULAR IN PLAN, THE BUILDING FEATURES BRICK EXTERIOR WALLS, GLASS AND CONCRETE TRIM MATERIAL AND A FLAT SHAPED ROOF. ROUNDED CORNERS AND BRICK STRING COURSES LEND A STREAMLINED QUALITY TO THE DESIGN. GLASS BLOCKS FILL IN CORNER WINDOW OPENINGS. THE BUILDING IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THE STRUCTURE WAS KNOWN HISTORICALLY AS THE HARKER-MARR-GORDON GARAGE. IT FUNCTIONED AS AN AUTO SHOWROOM IN 1947. (SEE BIB. REF. A). THE BUILDING WAS LOCALLY DESIGNATED, BECOMING PART OF THE MINERAL POINT LANDMARK DISTRICT IN 1972. |
