It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History.

Virtually unaltered--with the exception of the 20th century porch--this vernacular building is an excellent example of a once common local style. Veneered with vermillion colored brick, this two story house is a "tee" in plan with a broad veranda (c. 1920) wrapping the street facades. Windows are capped with segmental arches of brick as is the entry, entry transom, and side lights. Another feature is the use of clipped gables that add interest to the roofline. This otherwise unadorned, vernacular house is an excellent example of its late 19th century style with modfications that reflect the fashions of the early 20th century.

In 1891 Gustav Holmberg and his wife Alida mortgaged their property on Block 21, Gale's 1st Addition. They obtained $1,300 from Mary C. Howard of Cook County, Illinois with which they built a house. City Tax Records indicate an 1892 date of construction. No information could be found on Holmberg.
