Additional Information:THIS ONE STORY, SIDE GABLED HOUSE FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A STONE FOUNDATION, A STONE EXTERIOR, A STONE TRIM AND A WOOD SHINGLED, GABLE ROOF. THE WOOD SHINGLES WERE ADDED TO THE ROOF IN 1974. AFTER A TORNADO WHICH STRUCK IN 1978, THE ROOF HAD TO BE REPLACED. ABOVE THE FRONT DOOR APPEARS A TRANSOM WINDOW. A WOODEN ADDITION IS LOCATED AT THE REAR. AT SOME POINT IN TIME, THE DWELLING WAS RENOVATED (SEE THE OLD PICTURE AMONG THE INVENTORY CARDS DESCRIBING THIS PROPERTY). THE FLOORS WERE LOWERED BY JACKHAMMERING INTO SOLID ROCK. ORIGINALLY BUILT IN C. 1840 (SEE BIB. REF. A, F), THIS RESIDENCE IS PRESENTLY IN GOOD CONDITION.

INDIVIDUALS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS HOUSE AND THE DATES OF THEIR ASSOCIATION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: THOMAS JOHNS FROM 1850 TO 1851; JOHN FRANCIS, FROM 1856 TO 1866, AND FROM 1873 TO 1895; CORNELIUS SMITH IN 1868 TO 1871; AND JOHN UNGER SR. AND HIS HEIRS, FROM 1905 TO 1925. (SEE BIB. REF. A).
