This site is notable for another Cornishman, Abner Nichols, one of Mineral Point's earliest settlers and one of the first from Cornwall. Nichols was here by 1828 and operated the well known "Mansion House" a popular gathering spot for travelers and local residents. Businesses in this building were James Penberthy Livery; Palace Livery & Garage; Penberthy Garage; Ballack's Ford Dealership; Livery Antiques; and Serendipity and Antiques." -from "A Field Guide to Mineral Point" by Nancy Pfotenhauer of the Mineral Point Historical Society, 1st Edition, 2012, Little Creek Press. |
