NOTES
Additional Information:GARAGE PORTION HAS BEEN DEMOLISHED. THIS ONE STORY RETAIL BUILDING FEATURES AN L-SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A STONE FOUNDATION, A COMBINATION STONE AND WOOD EXTERIOR, A WOOD TRIM AND A FLAT ROOF. STONE IS USED ON BOTH THE REAR AND SOUTH WALLS. THE STORE ON THE SOUTH SIDE WAS RECENTLY ALTERED COMPLETELY, WHEN IT WAS COVERED BY HORIZONTAL WOOD SIDING. THE STORE ON THE NORTH SIDE, HOWEVER, WAS RECENTLY RESTORED TO ITS ORIGINAL CHARACTER. A DECORATIVE, WOODEN, BRACKETED CORNICE EMBELLISHES THE FACADE. THIS STRUCTURE, BUILT BETWEEN 1875 AND 1880 (SEE BIB. REF. A), IS IN GOOD CONDITION.

THE HISTORIC NAMES OF THIS BUILDING INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: THE IVEY BUILDING; THE MINERAL POINT TOWN HALL, WHICH WAS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH-SIDE STORE; AND J. J. COLLINS GARAGE. THE GARAGE WAS IN BUSINESS IN 1924. (SEE BIB. REF.C). Originally constructed as a rental property by the Ivey family. In the 1920s, the building served as a garage known as the J.J. Collins Garage. The building was restored in 1991. The building also served as a town hall at one time. [E]

2012- "The builder and original occupants of this building are unknown. It is marked as a harness shop on the 1884 Sanborn map and as vacant on the 1889, 1894, and 1900 maps; by 1908 it is a carpenter shop and by 1929, the Town Hall for the town of Mineral Point.

Restored in 1991, it has been the site of The Old Town Hall Quilt Shop; White Pickett Fences; and Replete.

The street it stands on was always a busy one, as noted in the reminiscences of a former Mineral Pointer, William Goldsworthy."
