Additional Information: | THIS SIDE GABLED HOUSE FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A WHITEWASHED BRICK EXTERIOR AND AN ASPHALT SHINGLED, GABLE ROOF. A TRANSOM WINDOW APPEARS ABOVE THE FRONT ENTRANCE, AND A WOOD ADDITION APPEARS AT THE REAR. THIS RESIDENCE, BUILT IN C. 1845 (SEE BIB. REF. F), IS IN GOOD CONDITION. Jenkins came to Mineral Point in 1841 to mine lead. Left town in 1850 for California. By 1852, he had returned to Mineral Point and opened a general store. In 1866, he started the S. Hocking and Co. hardware store. WILLIAM SALMON WAS THE INDIVIDUAL ASSOCIATED WITH THIS DWELLING FROM 1890 TO 1905.[I] |
