2016- "This two-story Commercial Vernacular building was constructed in 1922. It is rectangular in plan with a concrete foundation, clay tile walls, and a flat roof with a modest parapet. The front elevation faces northeast, and is asymmetrical in plan. Originally housing two businesses, the left side of the facade contains a wooden paneled doorway with glass transom above and an overhead garage door with no fenestration. The right side of the façade, originally featuring a passage door and a large display window, has been filled in with vinyl siding and inset with two 1-over-1 double hung windows. This alteration took place since the time of the last survey. Above the first floor is a plain cornice spanning the entire width of the facade. The second story features four 1-over-1 double hung windows with concrete lintels and sills, which replaced the original 2-over-2 windows since the time of the last survey. Windows on the sides of the building are a mix of 1-over-1 and glass block windows. The roofline is simply parapeted and topped with concrete coping." -"USH, Pitzen Ln to Hickory Ln", WisDOT#1650-07-02, Prepared by UWM-CRM, (2016). 1995- "Brown clay tile, vernacular, ca. 1925, two story commercial building with rectangular parapet across front of front gable roof. First floor has a garage door to left with a passage door. Other storefront bay to right has a passage door with a large display window. over both the door and window are large transom windows; the one over the display window is divided into four sash. A wide, plain cornice extends across the front above the first floor windows and doors. Above are four double-hung, two-over-two windows, two directly over the passage doors and two centered on the garage door and display window. On the sides are double-hung windows, most with two-over-two windows and some with glass block. The history of this building is unknown. A sign on the right hand display window states that this was the former U.S. Post Office. A sign on the left-hand window states: "Kowalski and Runde Plumbing and Heating." This building is prominent in a ca. 1929 photograph in the collections of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. The photograph shows that the building has been little altered since that time. This is one of the few substantial commercial buildings erected in this small hamlet and is one of only a handful of buildings remaining that retain their integrity.
