Additional Information: | SPINDLED PORCH,WOOD SHINGLES AND BARGE BOARDS IN GABLE 2016- "Built by Henry Skare, this house is a fine example of a small scale Queen Anne. The fish-scale siding and ornamental work on the front gable and porch are beautiful examples of this style. The house has kept much of its integrity with very little alteration work. It remained in the Skare family into the 1980's. Mark Egner purchased and lived in it for a while. James Domini who lives on Marsh Woods Drive in McFarland, now owns it." -"Historic McFarland: A Walking Tour" booklet, Third printing, published by the McFarland Historical Society, (March 2016). 2021 - Resurveyed. This two-story gabled ell house was built in 1903. It has some Queen Anne detailing, a T-shaped footprint, stone foundation, clapboard siding, and intersecting front and side-gabled roofs with overhanging eaves. The front entrance is located under a hip-roofed porch supported by turned spindles with a decorative spindled frieze and corner brackets. Additional Queen Anne details are on the front gable and include half cove shingles and ornamental bargeboad. Fenestration includes one-over-one replacement windows, covered by metal storm windows. Behind the house to the west is a front gabled two-stall detached garage. |
