Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. This two-story house has a rectangular form, a low-pitched gable roof with wide eaves decorated with modillions. The eaves are returned at the front gable end. An occulus window decorates this gable peak. Windows are largely four-light or single light sashes. The main entrance is decorated with an elliptically arched transom, sidelights, and a frontispiece of a gable supported by pilasters. A smaller ell projects off of the rear of the building. This building is architecturally significant as a fine example of the Greek Revival style. The form and massing suggests the Greek Revival style, as do the returned eaves. But the height of the building, the tall windows, and decorated eaves suggest the Italianate style as well. This house has been well-preserved. |
