Additional Information: | VACANT "In 1925 the major highway serving Mazomanie followed Crescent Street through the village. Taking advantage of this location to serve an increasing number of motorists, Roy Paylow built this small filling station for the Sunrise Oil Company of Minneapolis in 1925. Constructed of dark red brick on a concrete pad, it was attractive and up-to-date in every way, providing two gas pumps free air and water for cars, a place to wash cars, a drain pit, and toilets. Several Mazomanie residents were stockholders in the oil company. After some years of service as a gas station it was used for storage and later remodeled to serve as living quarters."
