Additional Information: | This two-story Italianate house has a low-pitched hip roof with wide, overhanging eaves and a plain frieze. The house has a stucco exterior punctuated by tall windows that have segmental arches on the second story and round arches on the first story. Projecting off of one side wall is a one and one-half story ell decorated by a sqaure bay decorated with wide eaves, brackets, and tall, narrow windows. A one and one-half story ell projects off of the rear of the house. The main entrance consists of a set of paneled doors with an elliptically-arched transom. The form and massing of this house is typically Italianate, as are the wide eaves, tall, arched windows, and side bay. This house has a high level of integrity with most of its historic details intact. This was the home of Solon Edson between 1880 and 1919. Edson was a carpenter and cabinet maker. At the turn of the century he operated the Edson and Son Church Furniture factory. This house is not historically significant at this time. |
