Additional Information:THIS ONE AND A HALF STORY, SIDE GABLED HOUSE FEATURES A RECTANGULAR SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A STONE FOUNDATION, AN UNSPECIFIED STONE EXTERIOR, A WOOD TRIM AND A SHINGLED, GABLE ROOF. ON THE SECOND STORY, A SIDELIGHTED DORMER DOORWAY IS FLANKED ON EACH SIDE BY A WINDOWED DORMER; ALL THREE DORMERS ARE DESIGNED WITH PILASTERS AND PEDIMENTS. A FANLIGHT AND SIDELIGHTS DISTINGUISH THE FRONT DOOR. A SMALL FRONT PORCH, WITH A FLAT ROOF DESIGNED WITH SQUARED POSTS, SHELTERS THE MAIN ENTRANCE. THIS RESIDENCE, BUILT BEFORE 1847 (SEE BIB. REF. A), IS IN GOOD CONDITION.

INDIVIDUALS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS DWELLING AND THE DATES OF THEIR ASSOCIATION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: S. F. RODOLF, FROM C. 1844 TO 1864; HUGH SPEAR, FROM C. 1866 TO THE 1870S; AND SAMUEL CRAWFORD, AT AN UNKNOWN DATE. (SEE BIB. REF. A, B). Crawford WAS a WISCONSIN SUPREME COURT ASSOCIATE from 1853-1855. He also was the treasurer of the first agricultural society in Iowa Co. and a leader in the 1856 movement to have Mineral Point chartered as a city instead of a village. Rodolf left Mineral Point for California during the 1849 Gold Rush. [D&E]
