Additional Information: | Addition: 1945 Related Buildings: Schmitt House 11/7 Architectural Statement: Glass block sidelights and transom; gable roofed rear brick addition. Schmitt Brothers Cheese Factory became part of Borden Food Company in 1929. The warehouse and workshop built in 1943 received an addition when the brick office building and laboratory facing West Sixth Street was constructed in 1945. Survey card photographs show that sometime between 1987 and 1995, the subject building was remodeled with new fenestration and infilled openings on the rear building, as well as featuring a new gabled roof on the former office/laboratory building, which formerly had a flat roof. |
