Additional Information: | 2005- The original Front Gable portion of this building was built as a blacksmith shop by William Walters in 1858 or 1859 an d its (purportedly) the oldest surviving building in Alma Center. The building continued to function as a blacksmith shop until at least the early 1900s, when Nathan Merrill also has his shop in this building. 2024 - One-and-one-half story, front gable with a one story lean-to, metal roof, metal siding at front, vinyl siding at side, vinyl one-over-one and sliding windows, rolltop door. William Walters was a white blacksmith from Canada. His successor Nathan Merril was a white blacksmith from Wisconsin. |
