NOTES
Additional Information:The Grubb Block, which was demolished in 1989, was a two story commercial building situated on a corner lot. The block featured a rectangular shaped plan configuration, a brick exterior, a metal and wood trim and a flat roof. A second story oriel window was located at the corner of the two principal facades. At the roofline, a massive, bracketed cornice spanned the lenght of the exposed walls. Brick corbelling and flat lintels appeared above simple windows. Before the building's demise, it was considered to be in good condition. Minnie Lamb owned the building in 1982. The Grubb Block was architecturally significant in that it represented a type, period or method of construction. It was historically significant because it was associated with commerce. Historical Statement: This building was constructed in 1889 for Stephen D. Grubb, who operated the Stephen D. Grubb Clothing Store at this location. (See Bib. Ref. A). According to the Intensive Survey Form, this building had an 1899 date of construction. (See Bib. Ref. B, C).
