Additional Information: | This 2 1/2 story residential structure is an example of the American "Foursquare" style. The hipped roof, broad porch and blockish appearance are typical of this building type. An unusual feature is the entry bay which is, essentially, a two story tower extending toward the street and capped with its own hipped roof. Lower floor windows are accented with leaded, beveled galass and those on the upper stories with narrow and latticed lights. These details, plus the porch which is of fieldstone rubble an dlimestone ashlar, indicate that this is an example of the Craftsman influence on a locally common building type. This building is a good examle of a common, early 20th century building type and style that is in close to original condition. As such, it contributes to the architectural significance of the district. Front facade has new bay window (2000). |
