ALUMINUM SIDED ADDITION ON SIDE. The house and four farm buildings were moved about 120 feet to the west to make way for the new four lane Highway 151 in 1956. 2014: The S.W. and Sarah Thompson Farmhouse, built in 1866, is a two-story, front gable Greek Revival residence with a concrete foundation, brick masonry walls with limestone sills and lintels, and an asphalt-shingled roof with cornice returns. The front (east) facade features an offset main entrance with multi-pane sidelights and a transom. A one-and-one-half-story frame ell was added to the south elevation of the main block in 1956, and has a concrete foundation, replacement siding, and an asphalt-shingled gable roof with two small gable dormers on the front facade. Windows on the main block are six-over-six wood sash, while those on the ell are a mix of one-over-one wood sash and picture windows. The property also contains several historic agricultural buildings, including a dairy barn, silo, hog barn, granary, and well shed, as well as several more recent sheds. |
