Additional Information: | POINTED ARCHED WINDOWS AND DOORWAY. ROUND WINDOW IN STEEPLE. Since first surveyed in 1977 the church has been resided in vinyl clapboards and has had a large new entrance vestibule added to the main facade. Congregation celebrated 110th anniversary in 2001. Resurveyed October 2012; no visible changes. St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church was constructed in 1883 in the Gothic Revival style. It is L-shaped in plan with a concrete and masonry foundation, vinyl siding, and an asphalt-shingled gable roof with a bell-tower and steeple. The front elevation faces south and is asymmetrical in plan due to a projecting wing addition on the building’s east elevation. A front-gabled entry bay is located at the south end of the building and contains a central pair of double doors with a Gothic-arched transom and tall Gothic-arched windows on each side; both windows and the transom are comprised of decorative stained glass. The front doors are accessed by a concrete stoop with metal handrails on each side. |
