Additional Information: | THIS ONE-STORY RESIDENCE IS DESIGNED WITH A RECTANGULAR PLAN CONFIGURATION AND A TRUNCATED-HIP ROOF. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE DWELLING INCLUDE PEAKED WINDOW MOLDINGS AND A SMALL, HIP-ROOFED, FRONT ENTRANCE PORCH SUPPORTED BY TURNED POSTS. THE C. 1840 HOUSE IS PRESENTLY IN GOOD CONDITION. (SEE BIB. REF. A). HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: A SMALL MINER'S COTTAGE CONSTRUCTED NOT FAR FROM WHERE COLONEL HENRY DODGE IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BUILT HIS FIRST HOME AND FURNACE (SEE C. 215 E. FOUNTAIN STREET, 50/25). |
