Additional Information: | This one story commercial building is similar to SC 24-34 and 35. It has a flat roof and rear addition. The metal entablature has urns and brackets. A leaf pattern is on the brackets and a floral pattern in between. Brick is the exterior fabric. Corbel brick is below this. There is plate glass and a stepped back entry. A lot of the integrity of this building remains but the styling hsa no significance architecturally. Even with alterations it is one of the more intact store fronts in the city. In 1887 this was a 2 story frame building (with shingle roof) that sold harnesses. Clothing was sold here in 1892 after the tornado of 1899 destroyed the building, it was rebuilt as a one story brick building with slate roof. It was a saloon. It was still a saloon in 1912. |
