Additional Information: | Clapboard is the exterior fabric on this two story upright and wing residence. The gabled roof has a box cornice. A two story addition is in the rear. Windows are 2/2 with entablature heads. Endboards are pilasters. The front porch is on the wing. It is partially enclosed. There are dentils on the pedimented gable. A water table is just over the concrete wash foundation. Two paired 2/2 windows are on each story of the upright. A small shingled pent roof separates them. There is a convex triangular shaped window in the gable. This is surrounded by fishscales and arched woodwork. This woodwork looks like it could be a bargeboard but it is flush with the wall. There is sunburst pattern wood between the first and second story windows on the side of the wing. This house has kept most of its integrity and the gable detailing is excellent. However, it is not an architecturaly significant building. There are better examples of this styling elsewhere. |
