Additional Information: THE COMMERCIAL HOTEL FEATURES ON THE SECOND FLOOR, FOUR SEGMENTAL ARCH OPENINGS FILLED WITH PAIRED WINDOWS, AND TWO RECTANGULAR OPENINGS ACCENTED BY STONE LINTELS. A BRACKETED, METAL CORNICE AND A CENTERED PARAPET COMPLETES THE DESIGN. THE COMMERCIAL HOTEL, AS IT WAS KNOWN HISTORICALLY (SEE BIB. REF. D), WAS CONSTRUCTED IN A RECTANGULAR PLAN CONFIGURATION, AND ENDED ON TOP WITH A FLAT ROOF. THE LOWER STOREFRONT HAS BEEN SUBSTANTIALLY ALTERED. THIS BUILDING IS CONSIDERED TO BE IN GOOD CONDITON. THE HOTEL WHICH OCCUPIED THIS BUILDING CONDUCTED ITS BUISINESS FROM C. 1900 TO AT LEAST C. 1912. (SEE BIB. REF. C). HOSTORICAL BACKGROUND: THE COMMERCIAL HOTEL, BUILT AFTER THE FIRE OF SEPTEMBER, 1900, REPLACED THE BANFILL HOUSE CONSTRUCED IN C. 1971 BY DANIEL BANFILL. THOMAS R. SEATON PRUCHASED THE HOTEL IN C. 1873 AND IT BACAME KNOWN AS THE COMMERCIAL HOTEL. LATER, JOSEPH VOGELSBURG WHO GAVE THE HOSTELRY HIS NAME, ACQURED THE PROPERTY. (SEE BIB. REF. A). A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE HOTEL (BEFORE THE FIRE) IS INCLUDED IN OLD POTOSI. (SEE BIB. REF. B). FOLLOWING THE FIRE, JOSEPH VOGLESBURG REBUILT THE STRUCTURE AND RENAMED IT THE COMMERCIAL HOTEL. (SEE BIB. REF. A). IN 1912 THE HOTEL'S FIRST FLOOR WAS OCCUPIED BY A SALOON, OFFICES AND A JEWELRY STORE. (SEE BIB. REF. C).
