It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. THIS FRAME, TWO-STORY RESIDENCE STANDS ON A STONE FOUNDATION. THE HIP ROOF IS INTERSECTED BY GABLE ROOFED RECTANGULAR BAYS PROJECTING TO THE NORTH, EAST AND SOUTH. STAINED GLASS, GABLE STRUTS, AN ORIEL WINDOW IN THE EAST BAY, A RECTANGULAR BAY WINDOW TO THE NORTH, DECORATIVE SHINGLES AND STICK ORNAMENTATION IN THE GABLE ENDS ACCENT THIS VICTORIAN DWELLING. A CONICAL ROOFED, NEO-JACOBEAN INFLUENCED PORCH (PORTICO) IS SUPPORTED BY SLENDER TUSCAN COLUMNS. A GABLE ROOFED ONE-STORY ADDITION EXTENDS TO THE NORTH. ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: BECAUSE THIS IS THE ONLY REMAINING VERNACULAR QUEEN ANNE HOUSE WITH A ROUND CONICAL ROOFED PORCH, THIS HOUSE IS AN IMPORTANT REPRESENTATIVE OF 19TH CENTURY ARCHITECTURE IN PLATTEVILLE. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND AND SIGNIFICANCE: GEORGE MEYER OF THE LOCAL MEYER LUMBER COMPANY HAD THIS HOUSE BUILT IN 1898. Ida Meyer was a graduate of the Platteville Normal School. PREVIOUS OWNERS OF THIS DWELLING INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: GEO. MEYER, IN C. 1900; Adeline and John C. BILLINGS, FROM 1910 TO 1940; MRS. CUNNINGHAM, FROM 1940 TO AN UNKNOWN DATE; J. CHERRINGTON, FROM 1972 TO 1976; AND WILLIAM TOZER, FROM 1976 TO 1981. ALL OWNERS HAVE USED THE BUILDING AS A HOUSE. (SEE BIB. REF. A). THE CURRENT (1983) OWNER IS TED PISCITELLI AND HIS ADDRESS IS 130 NORTH HICKORY STREET, PLATTEVILLE, WI 53818.
