Additional Information: A COMPACT CHURCH DESIGN WITH A GOTHIC INFLUENCE. THE CORNER TOWER IS A DOMINANT ELEMENT. THE INTENSIVE SURVEY LISTED THE STYLE OF THE BUILDING AS NEOGOTHIC. THE ONE STORY CHURCH HAS A RECTANGULAR PLAN, A GABLE ROOF AND A BRICK EXTERIOR. THIS CIRCA 1922 STRUCTURE WAS ASSESSED TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. (A)

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:

THE GERMAN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN LANCASTER WAS ORGANIZED IN 1883; A YEAR LATER THE CONGREGATION ERECTED A FRAME BUILDING (26 x 40 FEET) ON THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF OAK AND JEFFERSON STREETS. (B). IN 1922 THIS STRUCTURE WAS ERECTED ON THE SAME SITE. (A). SOMETIME AFTER 1927, THE CHURCH WAS RENAMED AND BECAME THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN.
