Additional Information: RETURN EAVES, CORNER PILASTERS, 6/6 LIGHTS, AND SIDELIGHTS LINING THE MAIN ENTRANCE DISTINGUISH THIS GREEK REVIVAL RESIDENCE. THE ONE AND A HALF STORY HOUSE HAS AN L-PLAN, A GABLE ROOF AND ALUMINUM STORMS. THE STRUCTURE WAS BUILT BETWEEN 1863 AND 1867. (A). THE HOUSE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:

A. (ADDISON) AND T. A. BURR ARE LISTED IN AN 1876 NEWS ARTICLE AS OPERATING A BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT ON THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF MAPLE AND MADISON STREETS. (D). ADDISON BURR WAS LATER INVOLVED WITH THE FIRM HOWE & BURR GENERAL MERCHANDISE. THIS ENTERPRISE EVENTUALLY BECAME KNOWN AS BAXTER & DRAPER, 102 S. MADISON STREET, 42/17. (B)

NOTHING MORE IS KNOWN ABOUT T. A. BURR EXCEPT THAT IN THE 1898 DIRECTORY HE IS LISTED AS RETIRED. (C)

THIS HOUSE HAS BEEN RESIDED IN VINYL SINCE IT WAS FIRST SURVEYED IN 1983 AND A LARGE GARAGE ADDTION HAS ALSO BEEN ADDED TO IT SINCE THEN.
