HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
THE WATTS HOUSE IS PICTURED IN LANCASTER'S SOUVENIR; ITS OWNER WAS MISS S.S. WATTS, A RETIRED CITIZEN. (B,C) HISTORIC TAX RECORDS ARE NOT CLEAR IN REGARD TO THE HISTORY OF THIS HOUSE. HISTORIC MAPS SHOW THAT IT WAS BUILT BETWEEN 1875 AND 1895 AND WATTS IS CLARLY THE OWNER AS FAR BACK AS 1889, BUT OTHERS OWNED THE LAND EARLIER BUT SINCE THEIR PARCELS WERE LARGER THAN HERS IT CANNOT BE VERIFIED THAT THIS HOUSE BELONGED TO THEM.
