NOTES
Additional Information:Gust Hellum arrived in Menomonie in 1883 from Norway. He worked at the Knapp, Stout & Co., Company, but after the lumber industry started to decline, he switched careers to run a saloon. This saloon started in the Johnson House in 1892 but was relocated to the Hellum Building two years later. His saloon's signature items included William Penn whiskey and Pabst beer, which had not yet won the "blue ribbon" award.

The Hellum Building is the oldest in the Downtown Historic District. It was constructed while the Civil War was being fought. It was originally made of wood. The building has been heavily modified since its construction. Much of the remodeling was done by Hellum. For example, he added larger windowpanes, which can still be seen today.

2017: Demolished for the construction of the Cobblestone Inn hotel.
