Additional Information: A BRICK CORBEL TABLE AT THE CORNICE LINE AND FIVE LARGE ROUND ARCH OPENINGS SEPARATED BY PILASTERS CHARACTERIZE THIS HANDSOME COMMERCIAL BLOCK. OTHER FEATURES OF THE TWO STORY BLOCK INCLUDE A RECTANGULAR PLAN CONFIGURATION, A FLAT ROOF, AND A BRICK EXTERIOR. THE INTENSIVE SURVEY CATEGORIZED THE BLOCK'S SITE TYPE UNDER THAT OF TAVERN/BAR. THIS BLOCK WAS FOUND TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE HISTORIC COMMERCIAL USE OF THIS BLOCK WAS AS A SALOON IN C. 1894 TO C. 1927. (B).

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
LOCATED ON THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF MAPLE AND MONROE STREETS, THIS COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE HOUSED A SALOON FROM AT LEAST 1894 TO 1927. (B). IN 1898, R.N. TRENTZSCH WAS THE PROPRIETOR OF THE SALOON. (C).
