Additional Information: AN IMPOSING ITALIANATE RESIDENCE IDENTIFIED BY EAVE-LINE BRACKETS AND LARGE SEGMENTAL ARCH OPENINGS HIGHLIGHTED BY BRICK HOODS. CONSTRUCTED IN C. 1885, THE HOUSE HAS A RECTANGULAR PLAN, A HIPPED ROOF WITH A DECK, A FRONT ENCLOSED PORCH AND ALUMINUM WINDOWS. (A). ADDITIONS WERE MADE TO THE ORIGINAL PLAN. THE SHUTTERS THAT ADORNED THE WINDOWS HAVE SINCE BEEN REMOVED. THIS TWO STORY STRUCTURE IS CONSIDERED TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:

THIS APPEARS TO BE THE RESIDENCE OF J. E. McKINNEY, A NATIVE OF NORTH CAROLINA WHO CAME TO THE LANCASTER AREA IN 1835 AND TOOK UP FARMING. (B,C). ACCORDING TO THE COUNTY HISTORY, McKINNEY "WAS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE BEST FARMERS IN THE COUNTY." (C)

THIS HOUSE WAS DEMOLISHED IN 2009.
