NOTES
Additional Information: SEGMENTAL ARCH OPENINGS HIGHLIGHTED BY HOOD MOLDS CHARACTERIZE THIS FINE BRICK RESIDENCE. CONSTRUCTED C. 1875, THE ORIGINAL HOUSE HAD A T-PLAN CONFIGURATION.(A). AN ADDITIONAL WING WAS BUILT ON THE NORTH SIDE IN 1950 AND ALUMINUM WINDOWS NOW REPLACE THE ORIGINALS. (B). THIS TWO STORY HOUSE IS CONSIDERED TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:

AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURY, MARTIN OSWALD OWNED THIS HOME AND THE SURROUNDING PROPERTY. (C). IN THE DIRECTORY, OSWALD IS LISTED AS A CLERK. (D). (NOTE: THE ADDRESS AT THAT TIME WAS 704 SOUTH MADISON STREET).

TAX RECORDS SHOW THAT OSWALD AND HIS HEIRS OWNED THIS HOUSE FROM AT LEAST 1895 UNTIL 1935. BEFORE 1895, HOWEVER, THE PROPERTY WAS PART OF A LARGER PARCEL OWNED BY SAMUEL EATON. IT IS NOT CLEAR WHEN THIS HOUSE WAS BUILT AND EATON'S OWN HOUSE IS LOCATED A LITTLE FURTHER SOUTH AT 952 S. MADISON ST. AND WAS BUILT CA.1853.
